The Andean culture was very unique in how they saw the world. They had four main ways on how they saw the world. Those four ways were collectively, reciprocity, transformation, and essence. This four types of views explain why the Andeans did things how they did.
The first type of view is collectively and this one doesn’t focus as much on what an individual did but it focuses on the person’s role. The things an individual did weren’t as important as what he brought to the table for the entire group. This is one of the things that I believe made them stronger because instead of only having one input there were various.
The other one is reciprocity an it is viewed as one part is countered by and connected by another. An example were they might have gotten inspired by was in the appearance of the southern hemisphere sky. They saw how the star to star constellation was joined by dark areas which also seemed to from shapes of animals.
Transformation was another one of these worldviews. Like many other cultures the Andeans believe in a form of transformation from plane to plane. They saw death and life in the same cycle were one needed the other. The person and the soul just transform from the living state to the spiritual state. Another example were the different season of the year constantly changing and transforming. They also saw in the sky how the stars and the planets moved and appeared and then disappearing again and again.
The last one is essence and this view has to do with what is in the inside rather than whets on the outside. This allowed them to explore deeply into thing instead of right away dumping it. This brought meaning to weirdest of art pieces because it wasn’t what you see on top it was what was trying to show in the inside. It kind of hard to explain it in words especially if you’re talking about an art piece but there are art pieces that if you analyze it hard enough you can see beyond the top appearance and more of the essence.
