andeans worldviews

The Andean culture was very unique in how they saw the world. They had four main ways on how they saw the world. Those four ways were collectively, reciprocity, transformation, and essence. This four types of views explain why the Andeans did things how they did.

The first type of view is collectively and this one doesn’t focus as much on what an individual did but it focuses on the person’s role. The things an individual did weren’t as important as what he brought to the table for the entire group. This is one of the things that I believe made them stronger because instead of only having one input there were various.

The other one is reciprocity an it is viewed as one part is countered by and connected by another. An example were they might have gotten inspired by was in the appearance of the southern hemisphere sky. They saw how the star to star constellation was joined by dark areas which also seemed to from shapes of animals.

Transformation was another one of these worldviews. Like many other cultures the Andeans believe in a form of transformation from plane to plane. They saw death and life in the same cycle were one needed the other. The person and the soul just transform from the living state to the spiritual state. Another example were the different season of the year constantly changing and transforming. They also saw in the sky how the stars and the planets moved and appeared and then disappearing again and again.

The last one is essence and this view has to do with what is in the inside rather than whets on the outside. This allowed them to explore deeply into thing instead of right away dumping it. This brought meaning to weirdest of art pieces because it wasn’t what you see on top it was what was trying to show in the inside. It kind of hard to explain it in words especially if you’re talking about an art piece but there are art pieces that if you analyze it hard enough you can see beyond the top appearance and more of the essence.

We all wear Masks

The Aztecs had plenty of mask but they rarely used them while in the present day it's rare if someone doesnt have one on. In our daily routine we tend to have interaction with a variety of people. These may include classmates, teachers, friends, co-workers and just strangers. Depending on who you're with is the mask your going to be wearing. I think that the reason why people do this is because of the fear of being judged in a negative way. Everyone is always self-conscience of what people think, or might think, if they do something uncommon around people. I see wearing a mask is sort of like a safe spot. while your wearing the mask your being like person you are suppose to act like.An example i could relate to is working in a restaurant. When your at a restaurant you usually dont see a sad or mad waiter? that because they're all wearing their masks that say "i have no worries, Im so happy, and im here to serve you" and thats what people expect. It's a business. Ive had my days when am not feeling all that perky but ones i get to my job i put on my smile and dont take it of until my shift is over. but the way i see it is that its not the customers fault if im mad and i shouldnt take it out on them. i think other reasons people put on mask is when they want to fit in with certain people or friends. Sometimes its to impress someone, like a girl, you might pretend to like a certain type of music or something in that area. I think that sometime its not such a bad thing when people were mask because sometimes that way you prevent yourself from hurting someone feeling by being to truthful. Its hard to really know who you are if your always wearing masks and just the thought the people wont like the real you doenst help. but if your always wearing a mask then your never truly you and you might never be truly happy.

Many people believe that the mayan people have dissapear due to everything that happen in the conquest but there are still alot of them. Many of them still live in Guatemala, mexico and other different places. They still hold their religion, art and overall culture very close to them. A lot of the problems the mayan people suffer from all the civil war and goverment problems they live in. Many of them are foced to move out of their home like guatemala due to all the violence and killing.Another problem they face are the changes they are doing to the enviroment around where they live.more of their lands are behing reach because jungles are being destroyed in other to built new things

Even though i wasn't born in Mexico i still go visit at least one every year. Before i lived for 2 yrs over there when i was around 12 i want to say and those were some of the greatest years. dont get me wrong i love it here in tahoe but over there and at that age was great. The whole year was filled with fiestas, school projects that had to do with their traditions and many other things. One of those projects we did from school was to reanact what happen with Los Ninos Heroes. Which were a group of Teenage soldiers that fought in the war againts the invading forces of the U.S, it was the battle of Chapultepec. It was the best and most unique experience ever because we where at the presidency and we were supposely fighting them with firecrakers and at the end my classmate runs from the second floor through the balcony wrapped in the Mexican flag and jumps off like what happened with the real Ninos Heroes.
Three words that remind me of Mexico all the time are religion, names of foods and culture.
Religion always reminds me of Mexico because it's a huge thing over there. All the schools over there have religion in their curriculum whether it's just going to church on sundays, for school, or actually learning from it. The school i went to did both and when i graduated there was this Mass for all the students and it was really fun. We even had due the confession and everything.
Names of Mexican foods,of course, always remind me of mexico because they are sooo good. but there are other foods that i haven't heard or seen here. That i only hear people from there talk about like popis. Popis are not really a food, food there more like a snack but i love them. There bits of hot dogs(sort of) wrapped in this tostada thing with ketchup, mustard and even sour cream. They are really good.
The last word it culture and this reminds me of Mexico all the time because it brings me back memories of all the things i did those years that had to do with the traditions of Mexico, like the school project, which there are alot of them all through out the year.
